Musical and Dramatic Programs : Every student participates in a musical and dramatic performance. Individual classes also prepare special programs that culminate their school work on a particular topic or skill. Kindergarten students prepare a Thanksgiving Feast in November and perform Friendship Plays each spring. First graders create a Community Helpers presentation to share with the entire school community.

Second graders create a Rainforest Museum , Third graders enjoy a unit on Los Angeles , and Fourth graders visit a California Mission site to explore authentic traditions. Middle School students perform in a Spring Musical, and grades 5 and 6 have a Music Recital at the end of the school year. Wellness for Mind and Body Grade: Course description This course will focus on students achieving and maintaining a level of physical fitness for health and performance as they make a successful transition from the physical education instructional program to participation in physical activity during adulthood.

The course of study will include these three areas: Effects of physical activity upon dynamic health mindfulness , Mechanics of body movement yoga , and Rhythms and dance. The unit starts off with simple shapes and builds up to more sophisticated sprite-based games, using the same programming concepts and the design process computer scientists use daily. Using a block-coding environment, students create music beats, explore the digital art medium by building coding programs that create collages, and develop their own sports video games and simulations using code. This course is primarily an introductory programming course, and units are grounded in an array of standards from the strands of computational thinking, collaboration, computing practice and programming, computer and communication devices, and community, global and ethical impacts.
