Flash player plugin now bundled with installation wizard - no need to do a separate install.

Monitor folders for changes and automatically reflect these changes in the media library. Support more than one TVersity instance on the network with the Xbox - this is thanks to the fact that each instance now generates its UDN.

Monitor changes to network interfaces on the computer and handle those changes correctly. Properly handle power management events sleep, hibernate, resume and shutdown in terms of SSDP. Up to 7x faster indexation of photos. Service starts correctly when user name and hence installation path includes non English characters. Corrupt AVI files can no longer cause the indexation process to spend many minutes on one file - we timeout after 5 seconds per file and skip it.

Software was mistakenly transcoding mp3 above kbps when used with the iPhone - this is no longer the case.

Deliver higher resolution album art when available. Playlists were not indexed by folder until the second time the library was refreshed - this is now fixed. Simplify and improve the installation wizard: Eliminate the configuration wizard its functionality was merged into the installation wizard.

Make sure the user has admin rights. Remove firewall rules when uninstalling. Warn users when skipping installation of ffdshow or when unchecking the firewall checkbox. This allows running other media sharing applications side by side with TVersity. Additionally, the discover-ability of TVersity on the network has been improved. If your computer is not fast enough at least core 2 duo 1. As before it is a configurable setting. This content, if subscribed to, will be available at the root menu of devices. These new menu choices combine audio, photo and video items, all in the same place.

Album art relies on JPEG files conforming to certain naming conventions that are present in the same folder as music tracks. This in contrast to downloading the two newest items in previous releases. Thanks to that all radio stations and other Internet audio can be played. This way there will be no download of media without an explicit subscription. The Artist tag is still used whenever indexing by artist and then by something other than album.

This is all configurable via config. This is designed for accessing TVersity on the go and it takes into account the upstream Internet connection speed. Version 0. This for examples solves the PS3 problem with Divx files larger than 2 Gb. The context menu command for folders is still kept since it has no undesirable side effects. By default remote access to all directories requires authentication when enabled and is rejected otherwise..

In the free version of TVersity this is limited to one custom hierarchy in addition to the default hierarchy. This is done by editing config. With folders their entire content will be accessible via the tag including playlists. In both cases xxx. We will soon announce the first batch of content sites that will add this button. This is important with feeds that keep their entire history, which in some cases can be thousands of items.

The changes from the previously released patch are: o Internet radio now works on the PS3. After this failure, wait a few seconds and try playing this same station again. While for now only wmv8 can be produced via ffmpeg, it is slightly faster than directshow and hence it may prove beneficial in certain cases. It can be turned on by setting the readAVITags variable in config. This solves some playlist related playback issues. A patch for the Sony PS3 firmware 1. This change was made to better support the Nintendo Wii.

It can also be used on remote computers of any OS that has Adobe flash version 7 or higher. It is recommended to use the Media Streamer and not the UPnP browser that is built into the media player due to certain incompatibilities that need to be resolved together with Nokia. Clicking on some video in the PSP browser will start a conversion if needed however due to the limitation mentioned above the actual download will start only after the conversion is done.

For large files the PSP will display an error message after a while thinking that the download cannot be started. Simply try again and assuming the conversion is done the download will work and the resulting video should play on the PSP. These devices are not officially supportred but users report that they are working well. This is in contrast to older versions where the videos for these devices were always in VCD quality. This is to insure that access to non shared files is not possible.

This can be overcome by refreshing the browser page and then loading the new video. This can be overcome by refreshing the web page and hence reloading the flash interface.

The "TVersity Media Server" user agent is still used when doing a full download either due to a new subscription or playback of an item that was not previously downloaded. This way media encoded in lossless formats will have no quality degradation when streamed to the This eliminates display artifacts that used to occur when the video resolution was not conforming to this criterion. This means that and DVDs will look as they are supposed to when transcoded.

This is to allow users of the Xbox to navigate their long list of videos. This feature is turned off by default since devices other than the Xbox do not need it. When turning it on from the settings tab in the GUI one needs to reconstruct the media library for this to take effect. Videos from which we cannot retrieve the duration, will now not have a value at all. While this will require faster machines to achieve the same quality, it allow for a higher quality per bitrate meaning that a slower home network can be used.

This is important mainly for HD content streamed over wireless connections. This interface will come in two versions the first is AJAX and the second is Macormedia Flash based only this version is currently being provided.

This new interface will be the basis for our upcoming support for the Sony PS3 and will be used for any web browser enabled device that can handle AJAX or Macromedia flash to provide a better user experience than the simpler web based interface which will remain the interface of choice for limited resource devices such as mobile phones, the Sony PSP, etc. Future releases will add support for playback inside this new interface as opposed to the current behavior where an external player is invoked.

This solves issues with YouTube flv videos that the server refused to add due to an unknown mime type. This is as opposed to the past behavior where this configuration only affected the web based interface. This makes the web based interface for browsing one's media library remotely much more useful and user friendly.

This means that they will play only if your device has native support for them. This improvement is not relevant for media URLs or RSS feeds since for them the delay is mainly related to the time it takes to analyze the format of the media over the Internet.

Video is not supported since the Xbox does not accept video via UPnP. Since the Xbox does not provide room in its menus for Internet feeds, TVersity is listing them in the playlists section. In firefox but not in MSIE they will also allow navigation to subitems. Since this unit does not identify itself before that stage, one needs to restart it after playing some item, in order to have TVersity properly detect it and correctly transcode content for it.

Devices that have a web browser with integrated media streaming or downloading capabilities. Devices that have an RSS reader with integrated media streaming or downloading capabilities. Support for Radio stations streaming to the PSP was added as well despite the fact that the PSP could not natively do streaming of live content.

As time goes by, individual profiles may be created for some of those devices in order to allow the server to make more accurate transcoding decisions. If it doesn't play with sound, you might try installing AC3 Filter. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? Did install the ac3 filters for the heck of it gonna try one real quick before bed has my curiosity peaked.

There is a section of the setup options for tversity once it is installed that asks about transcoding, you can choose never always or only when needed, i have it set at only when needed, and i have checked the decrease bitrate if it is too high for my network. There is also a windows media encouder option that says use direct show for windows media encoding that was turned off by defaut says otherwise ffmpeg will be used If I check the box for using directshow for windows media encoding I have a few options Microsoft MPEG 4 Video Codec 3 Windows Media Video 7 Windows Media Video 8 Windows Media Video 9 Should I turn that on and choose one of those 4?

Well I thought maybe by installing that ac3 pack the vob might play thru ps3 with sound if it pulled needed codecs somehow from the ac3 install. But no luck still no sound, may try some more fiddling tomorrrow once i get some sleep but apparently reading around google and tversity boards and such I am not the only one with this issue of having trouble with sound on the ps3 thru vob files using tversity.

I'd think that since AFAIK TVersity uses the host system to render the video before streaming it, if the videos played fine in something like Media Player, it shouldn't have any problem - at least while it's being rendered and broadcast. I take it you're not having this problem with any other type of video? I did install the tversity codec stuff when the program was installed i believe, and yes no problem playing a standard avi file has sound and a few other types mpg and such all play fine, just those pesky vob's have no sound, and from what I have seen in other posts other forums I am not alone on that, so must be something within tversity heck Idunno but yeah the vob files play fine with sound in nero showtime and in wmp Will check out that ac3acm decoder too, altho i dont exactly understand how tversity handles rendering beyond those few menu options I have mentioned above.

I generally recommend against installing codec packs especially if you have no problems playing videos on a system as it is. I've seen people say not to install the TVersity codec pack - but I have to admit I don't know what's in it, so I can't really conclude it's completely unnecessary.

You could have a codec conflict, however, but it doesn't really sound like it. I've been thinking about trying TVersity for a while, but the system I'd have to use it on, while certainly good enough for the task, is a family system NeroHome will transcode a file on the fly to be read by the networked PS3.

And Windows Media Player 11 also has a media sharing option. Good luck. I will give the nero a shot cant hurt at this point to try it, yes i do have the full nero 8 too btw Or found a miracle cure for the TVersity issue yet? I am greatly interested in this topic as am contemplating a PS3 purchase to use mostly as a replacement for my ageing HTPC too slow to play p x encoded video and as a Blu-Ray player now the HD format war is over.

It's quite noticeable on a very large screen. I guess I could convert all of the DVDs to x files with low amounts of compression, but there are quite a few titles and I can't be bothered. HDD space is cheap, my spare time is not As you say, there are similar questions on other forums, but the answers are not yet forthcoming. I'm hoping with enough interest that someone will figure out a way.

It would actually be a great move on Sony's part to release a firmware update that just makes it work.
